What Does Event Design Really Mean?

What Does Event Design Really Mean?

You know how you want it to feel. We'll help you create how it looks. Maybe you've saved hundreds of inspiration photos. Maybe you know the colors but can't figure out what goes with them. Maybe you can picture the entire celebration in your head—you just don't know how to make all the individual pieces work together.

Or maybe your answer is simply: “I don't know what I want. I just want it to be beautiful.”

That's where we come in. At EsteMarie Event Planning, Design & Styling is about creating a visual experience that feels intentional, cohesive, and uniquely connected to the people we're celebrating.

We take your ideas, inspiration, personality, traditions, venue, and budget and turn them into a design direction that can actually be brought to life. Not someone else's Pinterest board. Not a cookie-cutter theme. Something that feels like you.

What Does Event Design Really Mean?

What Does Event Design Really Mean?

What Does Event Design Really Mean?

Decorating adds things to a room. Design gives those things a reason for being there. Event design is the creative process behind how your celebration looks, feels, flows, and is experienced.

It can include your color palette, textures, florals, linens, tablescapes, furniture, lighting, signage, stationery, focal points, ceremony backdrop, lounge areas, décor, room layout, and the small finishing details that connect everything together.

But good design isn't simply choosing beautiful things. It's asking: Does this belong?

Does it support the overall vision? Does it work in the venue? Does it make sense for the budget? Does it enhance the guest experience? Does it feel like the people we're celebrating? That's the difference between decorating a celebration and designing one.

Is Design & Styling Right for You?

Whether you're starting with a blank canvas, have a Pinterest board full of ideas, or have already made a few selections, we'll meet you where you are.

Ideally, we join the process before major décor and rental decisions are made, but if you've already started, that's okay too.

Tell us how you want your celebration to feel. We'll help bring the vision together.

Choose Your Level of Design

Choose Your Level of Design

You have the celebration. We'll create the visual story. This level is for clients who want more than advice.

We'll develop a cohesive design direction and help guide the visual elements of your celebration from concept through final selections.

We begin by learning about you—not simply asking what colors you like.

We want to understand the venue, occasion, atmosphere, traditions, priorities, guest experience, budget, and how you want people to feel when they walk into the space.

Then we translate those ideas into a visual plan.

May include:

Creative direction • Custom mood board • Color palette • Tablescape development • Linen selections • Rental recommendations • Floral direction • Signage concepts • Focal-point development • Décor sourcing guidance • Floor-plan aesthetics • Design meetings • Final styling plan

Meeting Style:

A comprehensive design consultation followed by scheduled design reviews and selection meetings as the visual concept develops.

Starting at $1,500

Most wedding Design & Styling clients should anticipate approximately $1,500–$3,500+ in professional design fees, separate from décor and product costs.

How Much Access Will I Have?

From the first inspiration to the final finishing touch. This is our highest level of creative involvement.

Full-Service Event Design is for clients who want EsteMarie to take the lead on developing and managing the visual experience of their celebration.

We create the design direction, refine the details, source the appropriate visual vendors and products, coordinate selections, organize the installation plan, and oversee how the design comes together in the space.

Your venue becomes more than a room. Your tables become more than tables. Individual details begin telling the same story.

May include:

Comprehensive creative direction • Full design concept • Mood boards • Color and material palette • Tablescape design • Floral direction • Rental sourcing and management • Linen selection • Furniture concepts • Lighting direction • Signage and stationery concepts • Ceremony design • Reception design • Specialty installations • Guest-experience details • Design floor plans • Styling plan • Installation coordination • Final styling oversight

Starting at $3,500

Most Full-Service Wedding Design clients should anticipate professional design fees of approximately $3,500–$7,500+, depending on scale, guest count, venue, number of designed spaces, sourcing requirements, installations, and overall complexity.

Large-scale transformations and highly produced events receive custom proposals.

What Design Services Can Include

Design Fee vs. Décor Budget

Design Fee vs. Décor Budget

Creative Direction

Turning inspiration, personality, traditions, venue, and ideas into one clear visual concept.

Color, Texture & Materials

Developing a palette that goes beyond choosing two colors and considers linens, metals, woods, glassware, paper, florals, candles, furniture, and other materials.

Tablescape Design

Creating intentional combinations of linens, chargers, dinnerware, glassware, flatware, napkins, menus, florals, candles, and finishing details.

Space & Focal Points

Determining where visual impact matters most—from ceremony backdrops and sweetheart tables to entrances, bars, dessert displays, lounges, and photo moments.

Décor & Rental Direction

Helping identify the pieces needed to execute the design and ensuring individual selections actually work together.

Styling

The final layer: placing, adjusting, refining, and making sure the finished space feels as intentional in person as it did in the design plan.

Design Fee vs. Décor Budget

Design Fee vs. Décor Budget

Design Fee vs. Décor Budget

This distinction matters. Your Design Fee pays for EsteMarie's professional creative work.

That's the time spent developing concepts, creating mood boards, researching products, making selections, designing tablescapes, sourcing options, communicating with design-related vendors, revising plans, creating installation direction, and managing the visual details included in your package.

Your Décor & Production Budget pays for the physical things required to bring that design to life.

Depending on your celebration, that may include:

Florals • Linens • Rentals • Candles • Furniture • Signage • Stationery • Printing • Lighting • Backdrops • Specialty installations • Décor purchases • Fabrication • Delivery • Labor

Unless specifically listed in your proposal, Design & Styling does not automatically include the purchase or rental costs for décor, florals, linens, furniture, tableware, signage, printing, stationery, lighting, fabrication, specialty installations, delivery, outside-vendor labor, or other physical products.

It also doesn't automatically include:

Event Planning — managing budgets, sourcing unrelated vendors, planning logistics, or managing the entire planning process.

Event Coordination — managing vendors, timelines, and event execution.

Setup & Takedown — physical installation and breakdown may be added when needed.

That's why EsteMarie allows you to combine services.
